One of the most important turning points.. Mahalla!

Mahalla..

It's history goes back before the 6th of April 2008, but this date is special in a special way.

It's the city which inspired the Egyptians and certainly changed the the history of the Egyptian labor movement forever, Egyptian labor movement is full of struggles, fights, sacrifices and victories. But what makes Mahala special is that it came out of nowhere for some people who knew nothing about the social struggle in Egypt under the rule of the businessmen for years and years.

The workers of this city sculpted the it's name in many minds after that two day uprising against the increased prices and shortage of bread where they confronted Mubarak's troops and tanks, and in these moments some people knew that it's a matter of time till we witness the real revolution.

Thit is a magnificent example of the people realizing they are worth more, and must fight alongside each other, not against. Power to the Proletariat.

We've come a long way..

New translation: [En - Ar] Greek activists speak out: ‘We want workers’ power’ - نشطاء يونانيون يصرحون: نريد سلطة العمال

The Original article by Patric Ward  written for SocialistWorkerOnline A revolutionary Anti-capitalist paper in Britain.

My comment:
Before translating this piece i didn't have that much information about the state in Greece except what is going on on the main stream corrupt media and to be honest i was surprised by the labor movement in Greece and the great effort by the socialist and leftist organizations there.. what is extremely fascinating is the grow up of the workers awareness over many experiences and years..
It's a very good piece specially when you search in the background of all this.
All of you have witnessed the clashes and the news of the general strikes in Greece but after reading the article above, you will know how they reached this stage of struggle.
For years Greek left wing was deeply embedded in the roots of the labor unions and the normal working class and they make the normal people now have the ability to organize themselves in labor unions which has a great power to influence the government and to lead the anger of the huge crowds hitting the streets.
So when you look deep inside the Greek labor community you will find how they made this all.
For a moment of time i started to compare the status in Greece and Egypt when it comes to the labor movement!
to be honest i don't see the labor movement in Egypt weak as many of the Revolutionary activists see it because if you see the amount of oppression  they were affected by the Old regime which still in it's position you will know that it's not that easy to have this proletarian revolution in a matter of minutes!
But it still an option and believe me it's easy if the way we deal with the huge working class we have here in Egypt changed just a little bit.
You will notice in that article when some labor unionists keep mentioning the "organization from below" and this is the secret word for this great Greek working class uprising and it's the first step in the Domino Effect..

Regardless of the name, I believe that it's possible

Yes it's possible and that's why i believe in it regardless how many people say that it's extremely utopian which won't exist on earth, but why not?

Few days after today it will be the 1st anniversary of the first spark of the Egyptian great uprising of the 25th of January 2011, so the debates and expectations about how would that day be a turning point in our history just like the same one year ago are enormous.

Egyptian youth from different political ideologies couldn't agree on one expected scenario for the day, some said that it will be a normal celebration may turn into a million people protest in Tahrir square "the symbol of the Egyptian revolution" and they are the people who are afraid from building expectations may not meet the reality on the streets that day, The optimistic team didn't draw a scenario but they keep saying that we have to wait and see what the people really want from that day!

I have no definite scenario too, and sometimes i think that it will be a normal protest like what we used to see every Friday last year, but this doesn't mean a black look! and i hope to be wrong.

I believe in people's power and need to the radical change but how? and when? .. these are the questions!

Last year i was so proud every time i say "I have faith in this nation" and every time they proved how wrong were those who had a black looks about a revolution gone in vain.. "i think it was obvious during Mohamed Mahmoud uprising!,

But this time will be a little bit different from the last times because every phase in this "on-going" revolution is special in nature and has it's own perspectives.

So this time i think we will see the real uprising when the poor and the hard-working people have a superior position in the scene after they feel that the system still the same specially when it comes to the interests!

It was clear how the youth of the poor areas started to take over the scene in the front lines of Mohamed Mahmoud street during the November uprising just because they felt that their security is threatened and security is one of many demands and needs that no man can live without specially when you are poor because you have nothing but it, and the by the same way they will be in the front lines of any upcoming battle when they feel that it will bring them a profit!

I will make it more clear, They will be there when they new parliament fails to meet the people's simple demands of minimum level of social security! the revolution demanded a year ago..

It will happen sooner or later, it's a matter of believe, specially during the the non-stop crises this capital regime facing which affect the minimum requirements of people's daily life demands! which will motivate people against the whole regime one time and forever and this why i will keep saying that the socialist revolution is gonna happen sooner or later but i know that some is a little bit allergic to the term "socialist revolution" despite the simple demands of the revolution since day one are the main pillars of a socialist state which were " Freedom, Bread, Social Justice" so it will..

Finally, Another 25Jan is possible! and A SOCIALIST REVOLUTION is possible too.

Egypt is not Tunisia

We all remember this, we remember how many times we heard it while we were dreaming of the revolution, we remember how it was a great motive to prove to the whole world that we can!,11 months ago we showed the world how wrong is this when we revolted and forced Mubarak to step down.

Away from the revolutionary romantic feelings the revolution isn't over yet because it's a lifetime experience and process, so the revolution didn't stopped in Egypt or even in Tunisia in order to defeat the counter-revolution which till short time ago the of the same nature, but due to the cultural, economical and political differences between the two countries the scene now is totally different.

It wasn't a surprise for the two nations that the Islamic movements is that strong economically or regulatory.

But in Tunisia the governing controls were much obvious and supported by fairly strong secular groups whether they are liberals or leftists groups so the civil state wasn't negotiable like here in

Egypt where the extremist Islamic movements "Salafists" are calling for an Islamic Theocratic state in order to influence the people or the great sector of them by the religious campaigns which will guarantee the security of the SCAF from being questioned and keeping all their dark secrets about the regime, so it was obvious that they used the liberal, Islamic, leftist-reformatory forces and the media system dogs to reach their goal.

At the same time Egypt is worried about the identity of the state Tunisia finished the transformation period safely and it's obvious if you noticed the amount of violence in both countries since Mubarak and BinAly stepped down, Tunisia reached to the presidential elections while Egyptians are waiting for the SCAF to decide when and how they will elect the president.

Another very important difference between them is the strength of the leftist groups or parties which in Tunisia forced the Islamic movements to put a line for their dreams!

But in Egypt it's a little different, as the Egyptian leftists are weak in number and support by the people due to the reduced awareness and suppression they were subjected to the years before the revolution, but the good thing is that the Egyptian leftism is gaining much power since the revolution of the 25th of January but still have time in front of them to lead the political scene in Egypt specially after some leftist groups allied the SCAF in their elections which did weakened the movement again but i think it's good to know who is with you and who is not earlier to build a strong movement.

So Egypt is not Tunisia.

I won't offer you a community service, I am offering you a revolution

It's normal that none can face the whole world alone without support from the people he's fighting for their rights, but it's not necessarily when he lose support he will despair, every man with belief and dream of the world have to be a better place should not give up his dream in a world free of dreamers.
But how to get the support back when you lose it ?
In a country like Egypt under the current economic situation it's kind of exhausting to have the people around you to fight a corrupt system with a very powerful weapons and dominating everything except YOUR WILL.
Here's the difference between a revolutionary and an opportunist in such situation.
An opportunist will search for what people need and looking for and will deliver it to the people at home sometimes and this is great actually ,but then you the revolutionary spirit inside everyone of those who accepted the service will vanish, may be they will become slaves of the service, but the best part here is that they will leave you alone the minute when the service is over so at this time you will be alone and the outcome is losing money!
I don't think that anyone want to face something like that and if i want the people's support i have to go for it myself, talk to them, learn from them, convince them that my struggle is for their good and how we need to unite and the most important is to think as they think to understand where are they from my fight against the system.
Another reason why i won't offer any services is the idea of "body with many arms can be injured easily" and that will give a chance to the opponent to take me away from my original battle !
During a fight none will like having a fake support based on a interest.
If Egyptians believed just like they believed back in the 25th of January, they will do any thing.

Revolution is the only solution .. but when ?

After any revolution in the history every nation undergoes a series of changes or a trasitional phases leading to that radical change in the people's economical, political, cultural and social status after which they can say that the thing happened several years ago was a revolution, during these changing phases people go through very confusing times in the economical, political, cultural and social status but the severity and timing of the changes are dependent on the new ruling regime.

The disturbances people go through may work for the good of them in one case and it's the normal case i think, in which the people who revolted took over the power and started to run it in a revolutionary way.

Why ? .. Because the one who revolted is the only one who has the motives, passion to make his life better and the most important that he's the only one who know the reasons why he revolted which means that he is seeing the full image in addition that People are always expecting the change which will affect their life directly, positively and quickly, bread prices in Egypt for an example as it considered as the main component of the diet basket here.

How this will help ? -quick direct effect actions- ?
People will understand that the wind of revolution has just started and will make them believe more and more in their revolution, even for those who were sitting on their couches judging the people and were against it will have the opportunity to RE-think about the change and that will be for their own good too, and this is how the revolution will remain strong gaining more people every time it direct the people when change.

This will not happen if the new ruling regime wasn't a revolutionary or at least believe in the revolution, this will take us to the types of the new regimes in my opinion if we will describe them as people.

1st. The Revolutionary which come from between the people who did revolt or chosen by the revolutionaries, may be the leader of it or the revolutionary party leader, the only who will lead the radical change and the social revolution people looking forward to.

2nd. The Reformist which used to be a revolutionary but he lost his revolutionary sense and became an opportunist or he see that the minor primary change which already happened is enough and won't be able to face the counter-revolution from the old regime which will make a continuous attempts to rearrange it's cards to take over the power again and in many occasions the old one did it.

3rd. The alternative acceptable face of the old regime (New face-old body) which will deceive people with the pro revolution mask but in the fact it will keep the old regime tools at their places with a deceptive  face change with same bodies and will give the people the feeling of the change but won't be that radical change which will last, and furthermore they will try to hijack the revolution from it's rebels starting to distort them using the system dogs like the media and the repressive means like the unjust trials and leading the underground counter-revolution.

Through the history all rebels around the world should learn the most important lesson which will affect their revolution which is "never ever trust or ally the bourgeoisie".

For the worker's republic allying the bourgeoisie forces will harm more than it will help because in simple words the Bourgeoisie won't accept the conflict of interests and the end result will be the slaughtering of the proletariat just like what is happening now in Egypt, when SCAF jumped into the power in Egypt wearing that Alternative New face of the Old regime claiming that they are pro revolution with a creamy promises with peaceful changes and real social revolution, and that never happened.

Why SCAF remain in power till this moment ?
As i said before the 3rd type of the new ruling regime (New face-old body) will use all the system dogs to gain the people's trust and the moment they did that they started to reproduce the old regime which will protect their interests so they will never lead the social revolution with the arms in their hands furthermore they will slaughter anyone who will try to come close to them and the examples are numerous here .. Maspero, Abbasya, 8april.

SCAF ruling Egypt now comfortably .. why ?
The absence of the revolutionary party which is the only choice can lead the social change and continue the struggle with the proletariat, in Egypt there is no real opposing power to SCAF on the ground because most of the political forces were opportunists and allied SCAF which the thing was dropped their revolutionist struggle and left the people with no choices except accepting the solutions SCAF giving and playing the game according to the SCAF's rules like the elections for an example.

The only solution is revolution lead by the workers who without their struggle we would see Mubarak in the TV. till now, Mubarak forced to step down when he started to be a threat to the whole capitalist regime when the workers through Egypt went on strikes which really shaken the system during the last days before removing Mubarak.
I think we should learn from history.

CKUT Voices from Egypt - with Dr. Sabry Khaled re: Tahrir field hospitals & 2nd Revolution

CKUT Voices from Egypt - with Dr. Sabry Khaled re: Tahrir field hospitals & 2nd Revolution by Lillian Boctor
This interview was broadcast on 29 November 2011 on CKUT 90.3 Montreal radio on The Tuesday Morning After program.
"As voting in the first post-Mubarak Egyptian Parliamentary elections carries on into the second day, the second wave of the Revolution continues in Tahrir Square and throughout Egypt. After a demonstration on Friday, 18 November 2011, calling for an end to military rule, about 200 people, mainly family members of martyrs who died in the January 25 uprisings and people who were previously injured, staged a sit-in at Tahrir Square. Central Security Forces and Egyptian military police violently dismantled the sit-in, and since then, thousands have come together to reoccupy Tahrir Square. The police and military continued to attack protesters throughout the week, in Tahrir and throughout Egypt, with live bullets, extremely potent tear gas and invisible gas, bird-shot, rubber bullets and other ammunition.

During last week’s protests and the ensuing violence by security forces and military police, Prime Minister Essam Sharaf’s interim government resigned. The ruling military council appointed 78-year-old Kamal El-Ganzouri as Prime Minister, a move strongly opposed by various political parties, revolutionary coalitions and protesters throughout the country, who are calling for a national salvation government that would include presidential candidates Mohamed ElBaradei, Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh and Hamdeen Sabahy.

Attacks on protesters by Central Security Forces and military police killed over 50 people and wounded thousands throughout Egypt. The protesters continue their occupation of Tahrir Square and cities and towns throughout the country demanding that the ruling military council, or SCAF, steps down. In Cairo, protesters are also blocking the Cabinet building, to prevent SCAF-appointed Prime Minister El-Ganzoury from entering."

Boycott Elections

Dr.Aida Sief El-Dwla explaining why she will boycott election.

In a dictatorship or under a military rule Elections will not make the difference people revolted for. Aida said.

The situation now after 18th of November is totally different from before, before 18th Nov. there was a principle saying that if the people in the streets choose a battle so being with the people in the front lines for support is the duty of the politicians despite their own views about the battle in order to be there if violence occurred and it already happened in Masr El-Gdeda (Ahmed Farag) and Alexandria (Hassan Sabra).
Ahmed Farag who is a candidate in Masr El-Gdeda constituency died after being stabbed. “Aida confirms”

As a comment on scaf General Mamdouh Shahin statement about the inability of the coming parliament to control the government Aida continues saying that she can't deal with his words as his personal thoughts because he is one of the ruling council since Mubarak stepped down and they took their legitimacy from Mubarak not from the people as they claiming all the time.

Reasons why she will boycott elections started with referring to the 12,000 civilians facing military unjust trials who will not vote, 55 Martyr who died because of the lethal tear gas and bullets of the same forces which will supervise the elections and will boycott in solidarity with people facing torture and sexual harassment by the Egyptian police forces inside state prisons,
These people above have the same right to vote just like the people who will vote tomorrow.

Talking about the political forces who will participate in elections, she mentioned that they were weak in front of SCAF and they didn't play the game according to their own rules and they sold the military trials case and the tortured people to the regime for the elections.
"As long as scaf remains in power none will be able to make the decision except them" Aida added.

Wael khalil the Egyptian Activist and blogger still believe in his reformatory theories just like what he said before during the previous debate about the referendum back in march which proved to be wrong by time but now he insist on undergo to the elections which will bring the SCAF down as he's claiming.

New Video : A true revolutionary :- Kamal Khalil - chants at #OccupyCabinet

Egyptian engineer and labour activist. He is a leading member of the Revolutionary socialists, a representative of the Workers Democratic Party and the founder and director of the Center for Socialist Studies in Cairo.
He showed last night 26th of November 2011 at #OccupyCabinet and lead the chants against Tantawy, SCAF and the parliament calling for social justice and democracy.
Protesters from tahrir square decided to move a part from the main tahrir sit-in to the cabinet in order to prevent El-Ganzoury from entering the building and as mean of showing SCAF their rejection of announcing him as the new PM.

Election and military rule

2 sit-ins Tahrir and the cabinet, voices calling for boycotting the elections, other voices calling for going for elections, martyrs every day, this is the situation now.

If we compared the voices conflicting about boycotting elections, we will find that all the political forces except the revolutionary socialists are calling for elections and completion of the sit-ins in order to bring the legitimacy of the SCAF down.

But the questions are :
" will the parliament after these elections meet the demands of the revolution ? "
Answer : NO.
" Is it worth the effort ? "
Answer : NO.

People all around Egypt will go for elections despite what happened this week because most of the SCAF antagonists see that elections will meet people's demand which is "Down with the SCAF" by bringing a civilian government to achieve the rest of the revolutionary demands.
All the forces calling for going for elections and not to boycott  are very aware of the over constitutional articles "El-selmy Document" SCAF will use to control writing the Constitution and to be the ruler from behind the scenes, and this is the perfect hypocrisy, and they know that the elections won't be able to restore the rights.

All the Bourgeois forces are ready for elections whether the Islamist forces "Ikhwan - Salaf" or the secular forces, and these forces will not be able to reflect the demands of the streets, and obviously they are the voices who are calling for elections.

The problem here that the boycotting doesn't give us a clear alternative for the elections, and till now we have no Revolutionary party can lead this huge campaign.

The only solution i can see now is we have to go for it -elections- despite i prefer boycotting but if we did boycott we will be alone far away from the people in the streets who we have to stick to, and we have to rethink and make the most of the elections by surveillance and making sure that no fraud will happen.

Let's continue our revolution.
