Final words: presidential elections, Egypt 2012

Short notes about the upcoming presidential elections in Egypt.
My views from the last couple of weeks after studying the the actual weight and spread of every "real" candidate and the force supporting each.

First here's the elections experts and the most organized and widespread force in Egypt now; the Muslim Brotherhood who joined the rally in the last moment first by Mr. El-Shater and now by their candidate Dr. Mohamed Morsy, The MBs have the biggest amount of voters which will overcome the weakness of the candidate himself, and that's why you will not find that much voters from outside the 2 million MB members supporting Morsy.

In the second place comes El-Nour party, they announced their official support to Dr. Abo El-Fotouh days ago, and i thing they can do a good job in packing him and mobilizing people towards him, about the spread and and organizing they come in the second place right after Ikhwan.. The salafi party took long time to decide their destination in the presidential race after the cancellation of Hazem Abo Ismaiel due to the famous American Mama story.

The difference between Fotoh and Morsy in the nature of voters is that Fotoh has gained a wide sector from the left and right wing specially the people called "El-Baradie sons" after the withdrawal, But Morsy and the MB are losing votes because the last situations and the parliament performance, But it WONT affect them that much.

In my opinion Fotoh and Morsy are the most powerful candidates then comes Amr Mousa and Hamdeen Sabahy.

The last days showed a huge rising in Sabahy supporters just because of his Tv appearance, the sector Sabahy gained are the people who were looking for a leftist candidate who have a real chances not Khaled Aly who have no chance but i respect his move, Other thing about Mr.Sabahy is the weakness of his campaign on the real ground.

Another popular face in the election race is Mousa who have a widespread popularity but always countered by the negatie campaigns about him being an integral part of Mubarak's regime, his chance is quite big and his campaign is well organized on the ground.

Mr.Salem El-Awa have no real chance in my opinion according to his popularity between Egyptians, Maybe the negative campaigns against him are more powerful than his campaign, also he have no well organized forces behind him like Fotoh and Morsy who are also Islamist candidates.

Finally Ahmed Shafik who's the loyal servant to Mubarak, his regime and SCAF.. his existence in such conditions is suspicious for me specially after they made him pass the political segregation law.. but in real world maybe he has chances!

Finally we have to wait and see...

Account on MOD Clashes, 4th of May 2012

Summary of the day of 4th of May:
On the 4th of May during the million man protest near the MOD which called "Friday of the End" The Army forces decided to attack the peacful protesters and clash with them.
Army forces attacked the protesters with the help of the military police "the red cap officers", some plain clothed troops and thugs.
They pushed the protesters away using LIVE AMMUNITION , MOLOTOV cocktailS, teargas, stones.
It turned into street war between the angry, injured and beated up protesters and the security forces, many people were injured and more than 200 people kidnaped and will face military trials.
As the army forces raided into the hospitals and detained all the injured people tere is no exact number of the injuries or the dead people.

My Account:

I arrived Abbasyia at 05:10 pm yesterday and just before the cathedral i saw Abbasyia citizens with thugs holding swords and metal sticks banning people from passing from their street to reach the Abbasyia square and the MOD.

I tweeted:

I couldn't reach the protesters till i used the back streets and suddenly i heard sound of continuous gun shoots, it was very very close to the protesters who were escaping from the Army armors, tear gas, live ammunition and thugs, That moment i started taking photos.

After that the Armors started to push the people away from the MOD more and more till we reached "Ghamra" 4 km away from the MOD,  Army forces attacked the protesters with the help of the military police "the red cap officers", some plain clothed troops and thugs, They pushed the protesters away using LIVE AMMUNITION , MOLOTOV cocktailS, teargas, stones.

More Photos Here.  This is the photo just before they caught me 1st. time.
As i was busy taking photos so it was normal to be in the last line facing the Army armors, I was taking photos and suddenly 2 plain clothed thugs grabbed my arms and 2 other military police soldiers came towards me, they start beating me up, All i was thinking about is to protect the camera because they are doing that because they saw me using it..
A friend of mine Hadeel Gamal saw me that moment.
Thanks to 2 Salafy guys who heroically saved me from them i managed to ran away with no injuries.

I tweeted:
Me and the group of salafy youth who freed me were escaping from them and extremely tired, and many of them were falling and caught by the military police troops and their thugs.
Minutes after that while i was running with the guys, A group of armed thugs faced us and detained me Again with several protesters, they forced us to enter a flower shop just before Ghamra bridge and brought the military police to take us away.. apparently there were some protesters who were watching from far away and decided to come back and save us from them after they saw how we were being beaten up by both the thugs from Abbasiya and the military troops, they broke into the shop by rocks and sticks -the revolutionaries- and took us away..
I continues running in the back streets until i reached down town area where i felt safe for the first time since hours..

I saw many women dragged and beaten the exact way they beat the Tahrir Girl in december clashes

Behind the picture.. Episode 1

اسرة الشهيد/ محمد خالد - أحد شهداء الالتراس - The family of martyr
اسرة الشهيد/ محمد خالد - أحد شهداء الالتراس - The family of martyr
I took this picture while we were marching from Ramsis square to The Ministry Of Defense (MOD - 10 Feb. 2012), during the march and just before we reach the MOD the whole march stopped at one of the family's balcony and we didn't know that the march will pass by one of the Port Said massacre Martyrs home..
For like 20 minutes the march which was a big one in numbers chanted with the family specially Mohamed's Mom (the martyr's mom), his brother and his grandfather who was crying all the time till we left.
The Crowds chanted "We will bring justice for them or we gonna die like them" for the martyrs.
The grandfather in the middle of the photo saluted the crowds with his tears on his cheek like a waterfall..
Then The march continued it's way to the MOD and just like the train of the revolution at every station you leave someone and someone get in instead.. i left a part of me there.. but i gained strength again! and we will win.

A comment on the Photo on Flickr:
elfouly: Three generations have been marked not only by their loss but by the tribute and respect for that loss. A historic image.
